PushPush
By Sapphire

This book is obviously a great read, given that it's been turned into to a blockbuster movie endorsed by the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry. It's an oldie, but a goodie - and it's sold millions of copies worldwide.

The story is about an African American girl named precious that is obese, HIV-positive, and living in a very abusive home. At 16 years old, she is pregnant for the second time by her father. The story is about her journey through her struggles.

It's intense, dark, frightening, eye-opening, and inspirational - all at the same time. Critics love the book and the film, and the story is easily one of the best ever told.
